Wired devices like VoIP phones can be powered with no need for extra electrical cables. One of the downlink ports offers PoE pass-through to eliminate the need for that extra power port.
With 802.3af/802.3at PoE support, there's no need for more wiring. Plug it into the existing Ethernet cables, and you're ready.
